All forms and genres of writing and art that can be printed, including but not limited to:

• Writing: poetry, fiction, nonfiction, prose, short stories, screenplays, experimental work
• Art: painting, drawing, digital art, collage, sculpture and material work, photography

You're welcome to submit one piece or two.

• Writing: a .docx file, up to 3,000 words.
• Art: a JPEG or PNG, up to 10 MB.
• The file name should be the title of your piece (ex: TheLongestWinter.docx).

• Anything that can be scanned, like collages and works on paper, will look best scanned. Phone scanner apps work well for this.
• For work on canvas or paper, crop the image to the edges of the piece. No table, wall, or cutting mat should be visible.
• It doesn't need to be a professional photo. Just as well shot and edited as you can manage.

Our board reviews everything anonymously. While a piece is under review, we don't know whose it is.

• Please keep your name out of the piece itself, along with anything else that identifies you.
• If your piece is nonfiction and your name appears in the body of the text, replace it with a pseudonym in asterisks (ex: *John*). If your piece is selected, your real name will be restored in the final edition.

Calliope doesn't accept work made with generative AI, in any form.

• Software that edits work you've already written, like Grammarly, is completely fine.
• Generative tools like ChatGPT aren't.
• If we find that a piece was made with them, we won't be able to consider it.
